"Rear Window" Hypothetical

Say you’re watching the “Live Puppies” all day every day (who isn’t?) I keep a tab open all day and check in way too frequently!

Anyway, what if you could see that one of the puppies had hurt himself and needed assistance? What if you saw a shady character enter the puppies’ room from that back door and start taking them away? Is there anything that you could/should do?

I started thinking about this last night when I was watching. One of the owners had come down and was hanging out with the puppies. Morbidly, I began creating a scenario wherein someone entered the door and started beating the guy or tying him up or something and I thought, “Jesus Christ, would there be anything I could do?” Would I throw up a new thread, ending in…FAST!..and hope you guys knew the answer?

Long question short. What would you do if you were watching some live streaming video thing and you noticed that something was extremely wrong? Let’s avoid the topic of the recent suicide. I’m talking about something that’s caught on tape purely by accident, but that someone absolutely needs to be made aware of immediately.

Pop popcorn?
What?

Not sure there’s a whole lot you can do, especially if quick action is needed. Hard for your local cops to crawl in to your monitor and arrest anybody. I watch puppy cam from time to time…I have no idea where the actual puppies are. Could be anywhere on the planet. I’m sure there are techno-wizards out there capable of doing things to determine where a website is physically located…but I very much doubt they’re working the night shift in Small Southern Town, where I happen to live.

Where (geographically) is this webcam? And where specifically - a kennel? someone’s house?

In the puppy cam thread, someone said they were located in San Fransisco. I have no idea how they figured that out. It looks like it’s in someone’s house.

If you go to the site http://www.ustream.tv/channel/shiba-inu-puppy-cam and read the page and the postings, as opposed to direct linking only to the viewer, the information is there. Besides, they’ve also been featured on CNN and on NPR.

It is in the owners home, and they have mentioned that they are in San Francisco. (They post as SFShiba.)

Thanks for that info, Monstera. To everyone who has been watching: Look out…they’ll be starting to leave this weekend. The owners will be keeping one pup and the new owners will be given webcams in case they want to continue this project. Great! Six windows to keep open instead of just one!
