My wife and I are going to make some T-shirts for gifts for other people, and we came up with the idea of recaptioning an old advertisement. We found this rather innocuous Congoleum advertisement (also reproduced here, sans words, for your convenience; pardon the screen pattern). I made a couple attempts at humerous recaptioning, but they lack a certain je ne sais quoi (as well as being rather wordy):
Woman A: Honestly dear you’ve never felt anything like it.
Woman B: Oh, all right I’ll give it ago.
Woman B: I’m not sure this is right, maybe I should ask Frank.
Woman A: What would he know…he’s a man.
Woman B: Oh you’re right Frank would have vetoed this…God it’s huge.
Woman A: Are you going to get the black one?
By the way this is a very good idea. I see recaptioned old ads all over the place. Usually the original references become comments about drugs and alcohol.
