Recast GAME OF THRONES... as an '80s show

Tony Danza as Tony Bronn

I don’t know about casting, but here’s the theme.

Lannisters
Billy Barty as Tyrion
John and Joan Cusack as Jamie and Cersei
Jim Davis (JR’s dad from Dallas) as Tywin
Tom Cruise (from Rain Man) as Joffrie

George Wendt as Robert Baratheon

My husband, who is really enjoying this thread, says Tywin should be John Forsythe and Cersei should be Barbara Bain.

Which made me think that Daavo’s privateering friend (I really should brush up on these character names) should be Bill Cosby.

Amazed it took 17 posts to get that!

Heh, and people think Dinklage’s “British” accent is bad.

Okay, new link…

NOW WITH VIDEO!!!

Here’s a partial list:

Starks:
Ned: John Amos
Mrs. Stark: Marla Gibbs
Sansa: Janet Jackson

Lannisters:
Tyrion: Todd Bridges (on his knees.)
Joffry: Jaleel White
Tywin: Lou Gosset Jr.
Other:
Lord Varys: Christopher Hewett
Daenerys Targaryen: Lisa Bonet
Hodor: Nell Carter
Baelish: Sherman Hemsley
Jorah Mormont: Hal Smith

I’m often the wrong person to ask how convincing an English accent is. Sure, even I can tell how phony Dick Van Dyke sounded in ***Mary Poppins, ***, but as a Yank, I’m fairly easily fooled. Peter Dinklage’s accent may sound all wrong to a true Brit, but as long as he doesn’t sound like the Noo Joisey boy he really is, he’s okay with me.

But it’s worth asking… is King’s Landing supposed to be in England? Is it even supposed to be on the planet Earth??? I doubt it. Heck, George R.R. Martin isn’t English! He’s a Noo Joisey boy, too!

So, why SHOULD all the cast members sound like members of the Royal Shakespeare Company?

No, that’s why I put “British” in quotes. His accent doesn’t bother me either, but I know some people have criticized it.

Mandy Patinkin as Oberyn
Cary Elwes as Jaime
Wallace Shawn as Littlefinger
