Reccomendations on a Double Bass?

Looks Like I’m taking the plunge to get one. I am a guitarist who has now decided to try the double bass. My price range is roughly 3000 to 4000 dollars. Right now I am looking at a Schoenbach Czech bass. It sounds all right though the very low end doesn’t resonate as much as I would like. My primary interest is Jazz though if I get good Classical isn’t out of the question.

Any reccomendations? I wonder how many dopers play the double bass.

You should go to the double bass forum at talkbass.com and ask around there. Make sure to give a location because the people there get really peeved when people don’t indicate where they are - doing so helps them direct you to luthiers and music shops in your area.
