Untold numbers of makeup products. I decide I really like a certain shade of lipstick or type of eyeliner pencil and poof! it’s gone.
Lindt made (still makes? hard to tell) a dark chocolate hazelnut spread that had all other similar products beat. It had a clear, strong hazelnut flavor that was addictive, and of course their chocolate was awesome. And I could get it at Safeway!
I only discovered it quite recently, but just after I discovered it, it disappeared from Safeway’s shelves. I went online to see if I could get it from Amazon or Lindt, and they had it, but at $20 or more per tiny jar - no sale.
It looks like it’s priced so high because it’s discontinued. Life will never be the same.
Mine is vanilla Coke Zero. Another victim of the pandemic.
That’s nice to know. Will look for it. Oh, it seems to be available from Amazon. Why we shop on Amazon even if I’d rather not.
Crabtree & Evelyn was a shop in every mall with beautiful products in beautiful containers. Elegant colognes, essential oils, powder and lotions, candles and hand cream. ‘Nantucket Briar’ was my favorite. Then it was unavailable. They said the factory that made it overseas burned down. The company folded shortly after, or just downsized selling generic hand lotion. The shop in the mall closed just pre-covid… There seem to be a few items left on Amazon. The perfume in various forms is on eBay for about $200.
This one has probably been brought up before but Sunshine Biscuits (garibaldi biscuits) - flat bland raisin filled pastries not unlike a smaller pop tart - disappeared. They were awful but craveable. Aldi sells an almost identical (though made with apple) Fit N’ Healthy version.
And I miss the little LaChoy frozen eggroll appetizers - small pockets full of steaming hot cabbage and celery (and nothing else, really) - also awful, but I miss them nonetheless.
I know. I was just trying to find out if those Trenton crackers @Hari_Seldon was talking about were different than regular ol’ oyster crackers.
OTC’s were not like other oyster crackers. They were roughly spherical and very hard, almost like hard candy. I used to call them Jersey filberts and they had a real taste, unlike ordinary oyster crackers. Maybe I should try the Vermont country store if I ever get there again. They sound as habit-forming as OTCs.
Thanks for the clarification. I was having trouble imagining getting addicted to ordinary oyster crackers.
Really? I buy it all the time up here in Minnesota. I just opened a 12-pack last week.
Nabisco Chocolate Wafers are no more, alas.
I miss t-shirts made of real cotton - the good, thick, heavy-duty stuff.
Most t-shirts these days come in thin, greasy, insubstantial formulations. Blech.
Huy Fong sambal oelek ground fresh chili paste. This stuff was the best, but a chili shortage caused by drought took it away. Just saw a jar available online for $60. I sure hope it returns someday.
Same with gym socks. They still exist, but you to look far nd wide for them.
