Though apparently it is for people who make their dough from scratch. For whatever reason Google will return plenty of results for personal pizzas with dough made from scratch. But for pre-made dough it will only return recipes for large size pizzas.
There is zero chance that there is not somewhere on the Internet a recipe for personal pizza from premade dough. There’s probably a recipe for personal pizza made from elephant milk cheese and cured rattlesnake pepperoni, it’s the internet.
Take a pita - the hollow kind, with a pocket in it. Using a small sharp knife, cut around the edge. You’ll now have two discs of bread with a smooth side and a rough side. Mix some tomato sauce, olive oil and oregano in a small bowel. Take a spoon and spread your sauce over your the rough side of your pita. Cover with a square of your preferred cheese, or sprinkle some shredded mozzarella. Place in toaster oven until cheese starts turning brown.
You now have two personal pizzas. Take out and eat.
But when you have pre-made dough, just cut out a chunk that seems to be the size you want. If it’s not big enough after you’ve started stretching it, add a little more dough. If it’s too big, cut a little off. Dough doesn’t care.
In my decades here, I’ve observed that the closer you are to the correct answer, the less interaction you get. It’s the argument clinic skit in real life.
My ex wife would throw parties like this and it was always a hit. People would trade slices with each other. She used premade par baked doughs that were already personal sized
Except the general consensus is it’s better to subdivide before raising. Rolling the dough back up, then adding more, and then rolling it out again will result in overworked dough
Maybe? Not really been my experience. Especially if you err on the side of too big. Super easy to trim a little dough off. If you are worried that you don’t want to add it back to what’s left then: breadsticks. Those are super forgiving.
I see you @puzzlegal . That’s exactly what I did, albeit it a day late now.
I don’t know why everyone is giving @griffin1977 hassle about “how could you not figure this out?” I know what they’re trying to do - know how long to cook 1/4# of pizza dough.
Problem is, you were searching using the word “recipe” which is not really what you wanted. You didn’t want to make dough or be told what toppings to use. You wanted to know how to prepare 1/4# of dough and cook a small pizza.
Google is pretty shitty these days when it comes to “old school” searches for the exact thingy you want. But if you just talk to it in plain English you do get good results still.
I put in “how to make personal sized pizza from 1lb premade dough” and got both the AI answer and then several relevant links. Usually when searching I will consider the AI answer but also click through to a few links to confirm. Often reading further gives more clarity.
So, you were just putting in the wrong words in the search, maybe taking an older search-enginge-searching approach. @puzzlegal had it right. Sometimes around here it’s hard to see the right answers amid all of the tangents.
That may be true. If only there was a way to avoid that hassle, maybe if someone who had already done that, and worked out the correct process for subdividing pre-made dough into personal pizza sized chunks and then preparing and cooking them. They could then write it down, maybe in something called a “recipe”, that was hosted in electronic form on a bunch of interconnected computers, and searched based on a simple text string. That way I could look up this “recipe” with my computer and learn the correct steps so I didn’t have do it by trial and error. Unfortunately such a thing is purely science fiction and doesn’t exist in the real world
But that is exactly what I wanted. And it clearly exists somewhere. This a specific thing but it’s not that obscure. There is 100% definitely a recipe, written by an actual human, somewhere on the Internet for personal sized pizzas from pre-made dough. And not that long ago I would find it, but it can’t now as it’s gotten more crap at this.
And I stand by my assertion that there isn’t. because “personal sized pizza” is not a definitive thing that a recipe can be built around. personal size, like Pork_Rind said, is whatever size YOU want it to be. The recipe that I linked showed a pizza that to me, was clearly meant for a single person. You pretty much saw it as a large pizza. So how can you write a recipe with specific instructions for something so subjective?
A very good illustration of my point about how crap Google has gotten. This would have been a reasonable response, if I had said “I used Google Gemini and its so crap now it didn’t give me the write answer”. But I didn’t, I used search engine not a LLM, because I wanted to find an actual web page written by a human who has made a pizza on the Internet (a page that undoubtedly exists), not a guess generated by a computer.
Also I think it’s wrong. Based on the size of the pizzas I made dividing it into 4 pieces, 6 pieces would be way too small.
Yet it is for homemade dough? There are plenty of recipes for that. Why is it definitive for homemade dough pizzas but not for premade?
Also this is the Internet! About 1/3 of the Internet is people stating definitive facts about things that can’t really be defined definitively. How many millions of words (All of them stating their opinions as a definitive objective fact) will you get if you Google “is Die Hard a Christmas movie” ?
Whether or not there is a definitive standard enshrined in stone for what is a personal pizza, someone somewhere has written a precise recipe for how to make one from pre-made dough.
