If there is such a thing sold in the US. Something with fenders, chain guard, maybe baskets for my 4 mile commute. I’m thinking of dumping the car for a few days a week and trying a bike instead. Prefer US made if possible. :dubious:

US made bikes, frames only for the most part, are going to be on the higher end of the cost scale. Trek and Cannondale are two of the more widely available brands. I suggest you to go a good bike shop and ask for a hybrid bike. Those put the best features of road and mountain bikes for the average rider. You’ll probably need to add fenders, racks and panniers but a good bike shop should stock high quality options for all those items.
And might give you a bit of a discount if you buy all the accessories at the same time as the bike. Make a point of asking about that.
