Pop music decadence is as true in Latin American as in the rest of western civilazation. Still:
Autenticos Decadentes is probably one of my favourites party bands. They can’t be described as a pop band because they will do almost any kind of genre… if you go to a party in Argentina you`ll probably listen to some of their hits.
Carlos Vives is a very talented colombian composer, check him out.
Mana is, I think, a colombian band. They have a couple of good songs.-
Cafe Tacuba is a mexican band, if you don’t listen to anything else by them listen to “Las Flores” “ingrata” is pretty good too.-
La Oreja de Van Gogh is an spanish group, I want them dead but they are on of the most popular groups out there.-
I am ashamed to say that according to that little paragraph your spanish is better than my english. Why ashamed? Because I have been studying english since I where 5 years old, (I am 24 now), YOU have been studying thiteen weeks.-
Your two mistakes:
Puedo ver que mi país está convertiéndose EN un país…
“También pienso que LA música latina me ayudaría a entenderlo”.-
My e-mail is in my profile. Any mail will be answered so if you have any doubts please send me one.-
Maná is from Mexico, Aterciopelados (another good band) is from Colombia. If you want Maná, I recommend songs from their album Cuando los ángeles lloran and anything older than that.
I second Café Tacuba’s Las flores, although it is a very fast song… as in… even if you know Spanish, unless you’re paying attention, you may not understand what they’re saying.
Pop music in Spanish… IMHO, much better than pop music in English.
I will also repeat some of the suggestions already made here of getting Mecano (which brings memories of the 80s to me), Juán Luís Guerra (although his songs are peppered with dominicanisms). I also second the motion of acquiring some of Maná’s records as well as Los Enanitos Verdes. For trully goofy Spanish rock try Toreros Muertos from the 80’s.
