I’m happy with these Sonys. They’re nicely efficient–in my reasonably-quiet office, I can listen to my iPod at a volume level of one pixel, if I want to. The pieces that go over your ears are soft rubber, not plastic like some cheaper ones. Several reviews on Amazon complain about them falling off, but that’s never been a problem for me, especially compared to the earbuds that came with my iPod.
It’s quite possible that the price difference is a combination of exchange rates and international shipping. Either way, I feel mine were worth what I paid for them. 
And if you can get 'em for cheaper, bonus!
