It’s my mums birthday soon and I’d like to buy her a book for it and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations.
She likes historical fiction (mostly Irish) and doesn’t appear to be interested in romance novels.
I get the impression she’d like to broaden her reading horizons but I’m not sure what would be worth giving her to read.

Would she like some American historical fiction? I think Lonesome Dove is one of the most entertaining books ever written. I recommended it to my mother-in-law, and she enjoyed it a lot.
Also, Gary Jennings’ books are packed with history and story, but can be a little gruesome. Some titles are The Journeyer and Aztec.
Has she read CAPTAINS AND THE KINGS by Taylor Caldwell? (Probably the only TC book still in print.)
