Long story short, my ortho is recommending an injection of Synvisc-1 into my left ankle joint, which has been very screwed up (I believe that’s the technical term) since a 1996 accident. But his office wants me to buy the drug myself and bring it to the office for the doctor to inject.
Apparently my insurance doesn’t cover it under the regular prescription drug plan, so I will have to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed (or not - I have a pretty honking huge annual deductible, that I haven’t met yet). They told me it can cost anywhere from $900 - 1500 out of pocket at retail. So far Costco is coming in much cheaper than that ($366.75 - I am checking with them to make sure we’re talking about the same dosage, etc.)
Can anyone recommend a pharmacy that might be cheaper?

My fertility doctor had me fill a prescription for injectible Ovidrel and then bring it into the office for my trigger shot. I used a Canadian pharmacy- my doctor sent the prescription and they overnighted the syringes to my house.
Let me go back and look for the name… it was, well, nearly nine months ago.

A lot of it depends on how the insurance reimburses the physician for the drug administration. If her plan won’t cover it under in-office expenses he will not be paid for it, or even if he’s had problems in the past receiving reimbursements for it he might err on the side of having the patient front the cost and deal with the insurance rather than his billing department.
