I saw Amadeus a while ago, and have since been obsessed with the Requiem, but now that the better part of a year has passed and I’ve pretty much purchased and listened to all the recordings of Mozart’s and Verdi’s Requiems I’ve been able to lay my hands on, I took to watching Amadeus again. Now I’ve fallen in love with that one seven-minute bit of Don Giovanni that was in the film, and I want to listen to the opera in its entirety. But alas, my entertainment budget is not what it used to be, and it looks like I can afford only a couple more CDs this year.
So if I were to listen to just one recording, which one should it be?
