Recommend a song that captures the joy of this beautiful summery day

“Sunny” by Bobby Hebb. “California Sun” by the Rivieras has screamed ‘summer’ to me my entire life!

Renaissance- “The Winter Tree”

California Dreaming

Gershwin’s “Summertime” as covered by … all kinds of people.
Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, etc.

What a great playlist all of these tunes would make! Can some technically able person make one and post it for download somewhere as a public service? Talk about a remedy for the rainy-day blues.

'Scuse me, I have to go put on some sunscreen.

Summertime, Carolyn Hester.

The Summer Knows, Jackie Evancho & Chris Botti.

England Dan & John Ford Coley
I’d Really Love to See You Tonight

“There’s a warm wind blowing. The stars are out, and I’d really love to see you tonight.”

Summertime - Janis Joplin

Summer’s Almost Gone - The Doors (“Noon burned gold into our hair.”) Brilliant.

Dawn is a Feeling - The Moody Blues (“The smell of grass just makes you pass into a dream.”) Brilliant!

I can’t believe nobody’s mentioned *Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’, *from “Oklahoma!”

I always heard it as “There’s a warm wind blowing the stars around,” and your link seems to agree.

You’re wrong.

One of the most misheard lyrics in history, along with “Purple Haze” and “Live and Let Die.”

Year of the Cat - Al Stewart

“She comes out of the sun in a silk dress, running like a watercolour in the rain.”
“By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls there’s a hidden door she leads you to.”

The imagery is fantastic.

Ventura Highway - America

“Alligator lizards in the air.”

Another vote for “Summertime.” The one by Billy Stewart is my favorite version.

I’d like to see some great evidence for this, because it sure sounds like “around” to me, every single time the chorus is sung.

Yeah, you can find sites that state “stars around” but how the fuck does the wind blow stars around? “The stars are out” is the occam’s razor of the lyrics here. And it totally sounds like that to me.

'Scuse me, while I kiss this guy.

Here Comes The Sun, by the little known band called the Birtles. Or something.

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.

Or we could ask the writer, if he’s still about. (looks around online) Probably isn’t.

Bob Marley vs Funkstar de Luxe - Sun Is Shining

And another vote Bill Withers - Lovely Day
