Recommend a steakhouse on the Las Vegas Strip

As for marquee shows, might I suggest Love (already mentioned) or Ka? In smaller theaters, Human Nature and Million Dollar Quartet are excellent.

Where are you staying? It will let us focus on things nearby, saving cabfare.

Bricker - We did the tasting platter that had Kobe, Wagyu and Nebraska rib-eye. The rib-eye was by far the most flavorful. The others were good, but domestic was king. Although the chili-rubbed wagyu at the Country Club (Wynn) was right up there as well, I must admit.

According to the Golden Gate’s website, their shrimp cocktail (at Dupar’s restaurant) is $2.99. (Interestingly, D Casino and Golden Gate Casino apparently take Bitcoin.)

Has anybody had the steak at Jean-Georges in the Aria?

I’ve always been partial to the prime rib at Gallagher’s in New York, New York.

Mind you, if price is really not an object, I know the MGM Grand has a Joel Robechon place where he has a set menu for the night. Something like $200+/head, but I suspect it’d be an awesome meal.

I’m staying at the Riviera, mainly because it was dirt cheap after the web discounts I was able to find and that way I can spend more money on fun stuff. I’ve read that there’s a 24-hour bus line that goes up and down the Strip that you can hop on and off for a daily flat rate, so between that and the occasional cab ride I shouldn’t be too bad off there.

I’ll take your word on the CSI exhibit - I may skip that, since I’ve seen there are quite a few other exhibits to take in that seem interesting.

As far as the steakhouse choice, I’m leaning toward Ramsay’s right now as I’ve noticed that beef Wellington is the house specialty and I’ve always wanted to try that. Someone mentioned sushi - any recommendations there?

I’m not sure what the definitions of a steakhouse is (from the uk), but we always visit Ellis Island, and its $12.99 Prime rib with a micro brewed beer (normally a dollar), is good…

OK - based on your stay at the Riviera: The Peppermill is just down the street (just sayin’). The closest superior steakhouses are across the street at Circus Circus or a bit south at Wynn. If you skip the CSI exhibit, you might want to check out the Mob Museum downtown. It’s kinda interesting.

I enjoyed eating at the Luxor Hotel’s ‘Tender’ restaurant.
Apart from the steak, there was also a taster menu where you got three small samples and could decide on your favourite.

I can recommend the Golden Steer Steakhouse. It’s the oldest steakhouse in Las Vegas and has a lot of history to go with it. It’s just off the strip up by Circus Circus and is stuck in a nondescript strip mall. Very classy old place.

If you are going to go to Ellis Island (one block off the strip), then the meal to get is the “not on the menu” steak special: 8 oz. filet, baked potato, vegetables, roll and a beer for $7.99

Ellis Island is by no means a steakhouse. They have a steak special “off” the menu, but that’s it. It is decent, but not exceptional by any definition. It’s a Sizzler-quality steak served at a Motel 8 with a casino attached to it. If you want an experience, stick with Prime, Cut, Craftsteak, Gordon Ramsay, SW Steakhouse, The Steakhouse at Circus Circus and that’s about it.

I just got back from Vegas and loved the Golden Steer (mentioned above). Great place. 22 oz bone-in rib-eye was top notch.

My favorite source for Vegas restaurant reviews/suggestions is the Las Vegas board at the Chowhound forum.

Not a steakhouse, but for a show, I’d recommend Absinthe (it’s performed in the tent outside of Ceasar’s Palace).

Very entertaining, very fun show!

Just as an update, I decided to make a reservation at Ramsay’s and I’ll probably be having the beef Wellington. I’all report my findings next month, and I’ll have to keep craftsteak, Binion’s, and Golden Steer in mind for future trips.

I’ll definitely be visiting Pepper mill if only to try that 64 oz. rum cocktail.

I’ve been piggybacking on this thread and since we’re staying at the Mandalay Bay I’m going to surprise my husband with a night out at StripSteak. He’ll love the scotch list. We’ll only manage one night out in that price range but we will probably include the Peppermill too.

My friend Silenus posted:

Just my opinion, but the ribeye is always the more flavorful cut.

I was SO hoping that was a steakhouse/nudie bar

No, we’re going to Rose.Rabbit.Lie for that

Don’t forget the risotto and scallops.

I’m not a fan of either, so I’ll pass on that. The stuffed lobster appetizer sounds tempting, though.
