So how about recommending me a couple of games I might enjoy (based on the above) which I can play even when I’m away from the wifi? Like on a bus, train, plane etc.
Because I would enormously appreciate a little direction. I wade through the App Store mystified and confused. Things I do download rarely go well. (Never once saw the temple in Temple Run!) Finally I just give up in frustration. Convinced maybe gaming just isn’t meant for people like me!
So, how about it? Any advice?
(Because I truly don’t know if it matters at all, I will be playing on my iPad mini, with retina screen, it’s a year old!)
I will be forever in your debt if I find even one game I can enjoy!
Thanking you, ever so much, in advance for your time and for sharing your knowledge!
Blockwick 2 is a fun puzzle game that can be played offline. It has very nice graphics and, while the puzzles can be difficult, they’re not impossible and you can skip one if you’re stuck.
If I recall correctly, there is no temple in Temple Run. I don’t know the name for that style of game but it’s a play until you fail game where the difficulty will increase as you keep running. The goal is to beat your high score, not to reach a specific endpoint.
It costs real money but I bought CrossMe Nonograms and CrossMe Color like 2 years ago and I’m still playing them. I can’t swear to it but I’m almost positive the updates add new puzzles because I know I don’t move onto a new group of puzzles until I’ve solved them all but I will sometimes find a random untouched puzzle amidst its solved brethren. The actual game is a grid game. Numbers along the sides tell you how many squares are filled in for that row or column and you have to figure out which squares are filled in. When you’re done, you’ve made a pretty picture.
Alto’s Adventure is a fun, simple little time-waster. It’s a side-scrolling snowboarding game. Simple one touch control; tap anywhere on the screen and to jump, hold down to do a backflip. Avoid obstacles, do tricks, outrun grumpy old people on horses, and see how far you can get.
The former has more board game adaptations, some of which are playable solo or vs an AI (I like the solo version of Agricola more than I thought I would)
I’m not even very good at games, but this one is quite lovely to play.
Thank you so much for turning me on to it! There are boat, bus and a looong plane ride (including a 4hr layover in Incheon!) in my near future, and this is going to make all that waiting around much, much more fun!
There’s now a sequel, Alto’s Odyssey. Identical basic gameplay, but new location, new challenges, new boarders, possibly some other new stuff I’ve not gotten to yet.
Simple to solve, but a lot of fun and very satisfying. I don’t shell out money for games, but these are worth it and have zero in-app purchases. One little purchase gets you the whole game, no further DLC or anything.
Just finished Old Sins the other day (over a weekend). Wow, what a great game. You probably could have convinced me to pay $30 for something like this. Sad it’s over.
I think you can play King of Dragon Pass offline. It is a text based RPG Tribal Management game. It’s like the old choose-your-adventure books. It is rather deep and detailed, based in the Glorantha RPG world.
My addiction of late has been Polytopia, a Civ knockoff that can be played in less than an hour. Starting scores around 20,000 feel real good. My highest score was 109,000, and I don’t think I’ll ever exceed it.
I downloaded this and am enjoying it pretty well–but there’s no sound at all. Other apps have sound, and I’ve got sound and music turned up, but am getting nothing. IOS is updated. Is anyone else finding something similar? Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it?
