We just tore down the 64 years of accumulated wallpaper in our bathroom (ugh!) and painted it. Because of all the work we did, and because of the ancient vintage of the wallboard, I’m feeling very reluctant to digging into it again to put back up the toilet roll holder and the towel rack. Has anyone ever heard of or seen things like this that stand on the floor instead of being fixed to the wall? (And I’m not looking for something very fancy or expensive.) Thanks.
My mother owns a quilt rack which she uses as a guest towel rack. It stands on the floor in the hallway outside the bathroom. When there are no guests, it often holds a quilt, when there are guests, people are encouraged to hang their towels on the quilt rack.
However, it does take up a lot more floor space than a rack on the wall would take up–which is part of why it doesn’t live in the bathroom. Does your bathroom have abundant floor space?
Would these prices for a toilet paper stand wipe you out? A towel stand?
No, it’s pretty small.
Actually, those prices are pretty well within my budget. Thanks, Ducks. But, as Eureka notes, there is a question of floor space. I wonder if these things are available in retail shops where I might be able to get a better idea where they would fit.
Bed, Bath and Beyond and Linens ‘n’ Things are the two big retailers around here that would carry something like these. You can also find them at Target, or shudder Wal-Mart.
If floorspace is a premium, you might want to consider an over the door towel rack. The toilet paper stands are pretty small, though, so I think those are your best bet for tp.
Cool. Thanks, all.
For those of you who helped me out on this, just to let you know I picked up a toilet tissue stand at Bed, Bath, and Beyond (I can’t find the exact one on BBB’s Web site). I’m still considering what to do about the towels.
Overstock.com offers this: http://overstock.com/?page=proframe&prod_id=2048856, which is likely not in the finish of the rest of your stuff, but doesn’t seem to need much floorspace.
There are these “paper roll holders” which are sold both for the kitchen paper roll and to hold extra toilet paper. You could use one of those for the paper.
