A mundane poll: Where is your toilet paper roll relative to your toilet?

Inspired by this thread: Where is your toilet paper roll? I never thought about his topic until I moved from an apartment which had the roll right in front of the toilet to one where it’s behind and to the left. A very clumsy place, particularly for a right hander.

Where’s yours?

Switzerland apartment (rented): the bowl is in a corner, it has the washbasin to the left and a wall to the right, so of course the TP dispenser is on that wall.

Spanish apartment (mine): flat wall on both sides. The TP dispenser is on the left, but in a kind of uncomfortable position. Problem is, there simply isn’t a better place to put it. I did change the dispenser, though, this one is easier to use one-handed and doesn’t require the removal of anything other than the spent roll before you plug in a new one.

At Mom’s both dispenser are on a wall to the left of the bowl. At Lilbro’s, both to the right. At Middlebro’s there’s three bathrooms and they didn’t know why they always had trouble finding the TP dispenser… until I pointed out that each bathroom has it in a different position relative to the bowl! Since that house was built by the company Middlebro works for, he’s transmitted the “customer feedback” to his boss.

On the wall in front of the toilet. I find this irritating, and kind of far away to reach, so often the roll I’m using is on the counter between the sink and the toilet.

Mine’s on the left and in close proximity to the toilet. A person with long arms would have difficulty maneuvering. But it’s the only place to put it. To the right is a window and in front is a claw-foot tub.

Wall to the left of the bowl. This same wall faces the door to the bathroom. As you face into the room the sink and toilet bowl and a closet door are on your left, the tub on the right, and the wall with the roll and a window straight ahead.

One on the wall to the left, one on the side of the vanity unit to the left, one on the side of the vanity unit to the right.

The toilet roll is on top of the cistern behind the toilet. We used to have a toilet roll holder on the wall to the right of the loo but that got broken when Nuke decided to deal with the Evil Toilet Roll of Doom that was just hanging there begging to be Dealt With. That’s why the paper always hangs over the top, it’s much less of a temptation.

Gee, I’d like to find it on the roll dispener some time… apparently, I’m the only one qualified to put it there.

For what’s worth, the hanger thing is attached to the basin stand (and way too close!) to the left of the toilet.

Very convenient – to the right of the toilet.

It was mounted to the right and far enough back that it required an awkward twist to get at it. To the left is the glass shower door so that’s out and the wall in front is too far away to be usable. I solved it by getting a free-standing dispenser like this.

Now it’s standing beside the tank out of the way when not in use and anywhere that’s convenient when needed.

On the counter directly in front of the toilet, above the always empty dispenser.

Directly across from and in front of the bowl.

The roll itself is sitting cheerily on top of the dispenser (rather than actually being in the dispenser) largely because our cats view toilet paper rolls in the dispenser as being valuable and attractive toys arranged for the convenience of shredding/unrolling all over the house. For some reason they’ll leave a roll sitting on its end on top of the dispenser alone, but one in the dispenser is summarily unrolled, clawed, chewed, and distributed as confetti all over the house.

On the wall, in front of and left of the toilet. I’m right-handed, but have no probs.

Where I live, you have to grab the toilet paper roll from the window sill in the dunny at the ground floor, upstairs it is imidately to your left on a dispenser, rolling off both from to topside, or underside, there’s no preference. In the downstairs dunny we don’t even have toiletpaper because its too damned cold there to sit without freezing you butt to the seat, and noone bothers to bring down the hairdryer to get you unstuck anymore, they just bring a camera (bastards).

Master bath - on the wall opposite the toilet (not a ver wide bathroom). Guest bath - to the left of the toilet.

VCNJ~

Immediately in front of the toilet is the washstand. The toilet roll is on the left-hand side of the washstand (the toilet sitter’s left).

On the wall to the left, and in the other one, on the wall to the right. Both are quite handy, though IMO the other bathroom is less so.

My BIL’s house has one of the worst I’ve ever seen, with the TP on the wall behind the toilet and to the right, so that you have to turn around in a painful and awkward manner. I can barely reach it, and this is supposed to be the kids’ bathroom; how is a little kid supposed to reach that far?

In both bathrooms, on the wall to the right of the toilet (as you are sitting on it).

In the one bathroom, I personally think the dispenser is just a bit too low, it feels a little awkward when you reach for the paper. It still seems like a hassle to remount it a little higher – it’s enough difference that I would have to fill in the holes and do a paint touch-up. I can tell that this is going to be one of those things that I will think about for the next 20 years every time I am in the bathroom. Should I move it? Can I live with it the way it is? Inertia will win out.

In the kitchen. It really torks me when I forget to grab the end of the roll on my way to the toilet.

We have never got around to putting toilet-roll holders up so upstairs the paper sits on a box on the floor to the right of the loo. Downstairs there is a cabinet to the right of the loo where it could sit, but we prefer to keep it on the left, where it sits on the radiator. Warm paper mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
