Recommend Chess Program

I would like a Chess program for my PC.
Recommend a (inexpensive) program.

I was always particularly fond of Chess Master 3000, which I believe is now abandonware (you can download it free/legal).

I wish I could get our Chess Maniac 5 Billion and One to work. It’s from the guys at National Lampoon and the only game I know of that one has to pay attention to so the AI doesn’t cheat.
