I have a new laptop that I’d like to put a few free casual games on. Right now, my primary free casual games come from Big Fish Games, and I really like the adventure/mystery ones best. The laptop is a good rig, but it’s not a gaming machine. I thought about installing Neverwinter Nights 2 on it, but I’m not sure if even a graphics-hungry game from a couple years ago would run at decent framerates. (Still, I might try it and see).
Recent, non-casual PC games I’ve played include Fallout 3, Lord of the Rings Online, and Call of Duty 4.
Today only, two free adventure games at gog.com. “Beneath a Steel Sky” and “Lure of the Temptress”.
Well,
How far back are you willing to go? You should certainly be able to pickup XCOM Terror from the Deep on Steam (for like $10). It’s 1990 grapics, but it’s a pretty cool strategy game.
You can get the original Half Life games (assuming you haven’t played them) for around $10 each and they are pretty fun and should run on an old laptop.
If you’re thinking of NWN2, have you tried any of the Baldur’s Gate games? They are pretty old now but really fun. You could also look at NWN. Even you beat the game, there are 100’s of player made modules.
Homeworld and HomeWorld 2 are pretty good space games that are kind of old and might work.
Don’t forget Starcraft, its’ 10 years old but a lot of fun as well.
Hope some of these help.
Knytt Stories is free and rather addicting.
Thanks for the suggestions.
