I want to make a simple enough html site. What is the best freeware software available to do this?
My html is rusty otherwise I would just make a site from scratch.
What features do you need on your web pages?
Before I switched to a CMS for Atomic Shrimp, I used Namu6 - it’s a very, very simple WYSIWYG web editor that can achieve quite elegant-looking results.
It’s pretty rigid in what it allows you to do though (hence my question above) - in some ways, this is good, because it simply doesn’t allow you to be inconsistent with visual styles and formatting. OTOH, you can’t easily embed videos, apply a link to an image, and a load of other things - which is why I moved away.
Text, pictures, links.
Namu6 will probably be OK for that - to give an idea of what it’s capable of - their own site is made using it
I’ve downloaded it but I can’t get it to work properly.
In what way? The user interface is a bit quirky and non-Windows-standard - which makes it odd, until you get used to it.
Or does it just not work?
Are you able to edit the resulting html easily? (By that I mean is it fairly readable, or does the tool insert a lot of junk.)
There’s some great products here:
