Recommend me a book on English common law.

I’ve realised that I don’t really understand much about the laws under which many of the worlds countries operate. Up until recently, I wasn’t entirely sure what habeus corpus was, although I was convinced that legislature proposing doing away with it was a bad move :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d like someone to recommend me a book on the basics of English common law. Ideally, it should be easy to read (I’m reading it for fun, after all), explain some of the fundamental aspects of common law and be cheap (I’m a student).

Can anyone recommend me such a book? Latin’s no problem (well, as long as the whole thing isn’t written in Latin, that is) but the easier the read the better.

Thanks.
