What is the best general book on law?

This may be the wrong forum, but I think this is close.

A few hundred years ago, there was Blackstone’s Laws of England, which essentially skimmed over much of the law. It was popular worldwide and was used for decades after.

Are there any books today that match up?
Any books that skim the entirity of the law; a lot of little?
It seems odd that no one has really attempted it since.
