I need a new time-waster. I like puzzle games, especially those that involve real-world 3D physics. I love “World of Goo” for those who are familiar. But it doesn’t have to be cerebral; I’ve lost countless hours to mindless pastimes like Simpsons Tapped Out and an aquarium “ooh, lookit the pretty fishies!” game called TapFish. I also loved Draw Free 2 but it seems unavailable now, and the plain Draw Free has bupkis in terms of drawing tools and effects that made the other version so nifty. So I guess artsy games are a plus? Oh, I love word based games, depending on the gameplay specifics.
If you like word games you might be interested in Wordament, which is available for Windows and Android (not sure about Apple). It’s like playing Boggle against the entire internet.
No way am I to believe the entirety of the SDMB community – the majority of whom cop to doing most of their lurking/posting at work, or at least when they’re supposed to be more productive - don’t have recommendations for new and even more technologically delightful ways to waste my waking hours.
FTL (Faster Than Light) doesn’t have “real world physics”, but it’s as close as any game gets to being the Captain of the Enterprise, while still staying pretty casual and easy to play (if very challenging to win). Very, very fun game.
Quell is a great 99-cent puzzle game. Physics . . . ? Eh, not really, but it’s certainly a brain twister, and has a lovely, soothing interface to boot.
It’s a fully-featured, hugely immersive RPG in the Shadowrun tabletop universe. It’s really incredible at capturing the feel of playing an actual pen-and-paper game.
