Ok, here’s the deal. In my daily life, I’m annoyingly unorganized. Annoying to myself, and probably annoying to others. Essentially, I have a hard time keeping track of my obligations, appointments, phone numbers, and the like.
Well, the obvious answer is to begin making and keeping lists, and in this ever changing world in which we’re livin’, the solution seems to be some sort of small, electronic device.
I got one of these, (the Sharp SD-5500), and its pretty cool. Problem is, it cost $450, and its bulky and annoying to carry around. Plus, its hard to quickly take something down – its not as handy as it could be, and this tends to keep me from using it all that much.
Therefore, I guess im looking for something cheap, and preferably non-bulky – something I can carry around without worrying about breaking, and that doesn’t constantly remind me of its presence by dragging down my belt. A fast interface is a definite plus. I don’t need something that’s essentially a small laptop, I need something that allows me to take down notes, and has some sort of calendar function. Interfacing with a computer is a plus, but not necessary.
To my mind, an ideal device would essentially look and feel like a small notepad; you’d be able to write on the screen, and it would store the graphical data. I’m not a huge fan of the “Graffiti” system, or other code-based data entry methods where your pen-based writing is converted to actual text; in my experience, this causes you to have to go back and retype things far too often.
Whew, I’m kind of rambling at this point. Anyway, anyone have any ideas? Yeah, I could just use a pen and little pad, but this doesn’t provide the elegant, futuristic vibe that I’m looking for.
Thanx.
