The latest Doper Photo Thread reminds me that I have photos from my last few trips that I want to share. I’ve heard of Snapfish and Flickr; what other photo sites are there, and what does each site have to offer?
I’m looking for a site that’s free, offers lots of space (I can easily fill up a gig or two with the photos from my trips), and allows people to view the photos without having to register.
I use Photobucket, which has enough bandwidth for my various forum avatars and whatever pictures I care to show. I’m not exactly an image-intensive poster, though, but it serves my needs well enough.
I used the free account for a short time, but went to pay so I could organize things into more sets. I never even came close to the maximum uploads per month for the free account.
I enjoy the community there too; Flickr seems to encourage more discussion than I found at Photobucket. And the interface was easier for me to use too. It’s got a nice homepage that pops up with new activity on my photos, thumbnails of my contacts’ photos, and other usefull links.
I use Google’s Picasa web album. I love the Picasa photo editing software and the web storage doesn’t seem to have the bandwidth restrictions that Flickr does.
