All of La Maison’s chocolates are made in France. Or at least they were last time I was in their Manhattan store, which was a couple of years ago.
Oh my gosh, Burdick’s, at 52A Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Cambridge 02138 – just amazing, and I’m pretty sure they ship, too.
I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know how to post a URL on this board, but here ya go…Burdick’s ships from New Hampshire:

Well, that seemed to work fine, but if you want more info, including how to make regular text into a clickable url, like this, go here, or, more specifically, here.
This is our local chuck of chocolate heaven… And known internationally.
Oooh!! I forgot about Sees candies… I might just have to order some for old times sake.
This thread is going to cause the loss of a significant chunk of my disposable income I’m afraid…
I’m also recommending See’s.
I like Sees’ much better than Godiva because they are smoother and melty-er (meltier?), also bigger and less expensive. I believe they have a larger variety, too.
Also there is a place in Houston called Andre’s- I think it a “Swiss” resteraunt (ha ha, like the Swisss actually cook and eat) that makes excellent bon-bons, but I don’t think you can buy them on-line or anything.
Leonidas and Neuhaus are sublime. I’ll have to try Chocolats Privilege and that Belgian place in Toronto.
The Chocolate Fetish, based out of Asheville, NC, has amazing truffles that they’ve won many awards for. Their focus is on doing traditional, very high-quality chocolate (though they do have a red wine truffle and a wasabi truffle, both of which are quite good). They also ship anywhere in the U.S. I can’t recommend them enough.
I’m fairly certain they have a website, but I’m not about to Google “chocolate fetish” here at work.
LINDT
What about Ghirardelli Chocolate? I used to work there. They have a store in Chicago, and a really big store in San Francisco.
Do they make “Crunchy Frogs?”
Oh, man, when I went to San Francisco last year for spring break, I happened upon a fine little chocolate truffle store called XOX Truffles. Some of the best chocolates I’ve ever had. Plus, at $0.75 a truffle, they’re not too expensive. It was rated in the top 10 chocolates in America.
Thanks, arnie!
It’s aMie, but I’ll forgive you… I get that at work all the time
