Recommend me an X-Box 360 game

Viva Pianta will own your soul.

If you’re an achievement whore, however, you’re going to need to get some help to get some of the more complicated ones.

We seriously need to get a Doper-Xbox game going of…of something!

Rainbow Six or Gears of War anytime you want.

I’ve got Gears, and I’ll play it (but it’s still a crappy game with the most overrated multiplayer weapon of all time-the Lancer). As a matter of fact, I play a semi-decent amount. I’m I Dixon Tufar I.
That’s right…

I"ll cast another vote for Call of Duty 3. I’ll also throw one in for The Darkness. It’s a first person shooter with a touch of horror. It feels like a movie and I highly recommend it.

I haven’t heard anything superinteresting about it, but it looks like it could either gimmicky or promising. What’s your take on it?

I also agree with Crackdown, Dead Rising and Forza 2.

If you like silly little mini games there’s Rayman Ravaging Rabbits that’s a lot of fun, at least worth a rental).

My gamertag is NoSpillBlood

You’re added, sir.

Oblivion took me a little while to get used to. I’m somewhere around level 11, and I’m still feeling it out. It is definitely an investment of time.

I also hated the controls at first, and I honestly can’t tell you if they don’t bother me anymore because I’ve gotten used to them, or because my character’s skills increasing makes them more responsive.

It’s not going to set the world on fire but it does have some interesting new ideas. If nothing else, it’s worth a rental. The online multi-player is horrible so don’t even bother with that.

That’s exactly what I heard concerning it as well. I’ll just write it off, then.

Just beat Overlord the PC version on a 100% evil path. I’d sadly have to agree with the reviews it’s been getting in general. It’s a great idea with tons of endearing touches but it’s just not quite there. I wrote out a little review for this post and it got a little meandering so I’ll just try to list the highs and lows.

Lows:

  1. Control can be twitchy and I had the keys get stuck repeatedly (hopefully this is a bug of some type that will be patched) annoying when your minions get stuck in ‘charge forward to your death’ when I’m tapping the recall button
  2. Puzzles in the game suck. They’re mind benders like ‘turn the wheel’ ‘find a piece of the wheel so you can turn the wheel’ ‘try turning this wheel while having a water serpent eating your minions’. Some of the later puzzles like ‘take object X to location Y so Z will happen’ are few and come to late to change the overall impression.
  3. Had my minions get stuck more then once carrying large objects forcing me to leave the level and come back for it.
  4. Good and evil paths are pretty much identical. Evil nets you some small bonuses early on but nothing to worry about.
  5. You’re not evil as in destroy that paladin and bring a reign of terror evil you’re evil in the well if I go out of my way to target peasants that are so weak and useless already that they’re enslaved by halflings evil. Really you’re more of a bully then proper evil. Hell you can’t even kill some of your own slaves you get in the game if you target them and hit them with your sword the slave girl beats you down. No I’m not kidding.
  6. Lame unavoidable quests such as ‘Get my luggage for me’ am I an evil overlord or a bellhop? (answer Bellhop)

Highs:

  1. Chalk full of tiny moments that are worth a chuckle or two.
  2. Allows for some game play differences stand back controlling your minions and casting the occasional spell or wade in with a sword swinging (though if you do the latter wait until you upgraded your armor with regeneration abilities)
  3. Watching the outlandish armor/weapon combos for your minions as the game progresses is a joy I’d list some of the more amusing but really it’s worth seeing for yourself.
  4. Levels are just full of things to destroy purely for destruction’s sake. Sounds like a small thing but for me I never got tired of watching my minions go berserk in a room.
  5. You can ensure the extinction of the elven race in the game. I didn’t know that was a goal of mine until it came up but once it did I was all for it. I think I’m going to have a hard time NOT killing them off when I play through again as good.
  6. You can kill every peasant you come across putting entire towns to the torch. Though this could also be a low point. It has no effect on your quests and everyone just respawns next time you visit.

All in all it’s a B- of a game. A joy to play but there’s just something missing that keeps it from being truly great. I say a good expansion pack or a good sequel to iron out the last few bits and it could go down as a classic. For now it’s just good light entertainment until the next really big one comes along.

darn it I tried to edit in one more high point but missed it.

  1. You get several types of minions (Brown, Red, Green, Blue) that all work well together and support one another with a little work you can make them highly efficient and deadly. Or you can just fling them into enemies and hope for the best. Really it’s your call how much strategy you use the only real loss is the time you spend building them back up with better armor/weapons and time spent trudging back to spawn points.

Crimson Skies, you can get it in the discount bin at your local Walmart for $5 and its a great time…if you like flying.

I wholeheartedly second this one.

I’m up for it. Gears and Call of Duty 3 are my games of choice. The username is BetaRayRyan.

I play Gears occasionally as well but I’m pretty terrible at it. Feel free to add me as well. Storm Ravynn is my gamertag.

Jade Empire was excellent on the xbox, as was also Star Wars KOTOR I and II.

It said yours was invalid.

I’ll cast another vote for guitar hero 2. A lot of people are off put by it at first, but almost everyone I know who has played it LOVES it. Including my best friend who, when he first heard of it (well, the first one) said something to the effect of:
“That is the stupiest idea for a video game I have ever heard.”

He played it once at a friends, bought “Guitar Hero” the next day, bought “Guitar Hero 2” the day it came out, already pre-ordered “Rocks the 80’s” and “Guitar Hero 3”.
