Here are the games I have so you don’t recommend any of these.
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Gears of War
Dead Rising
Lost Planet
Quake 4
Kameo
Elder Scrolls Oblivion (Which I think sucks ass, I don’t understand the fuss)
Prey (Which I was in such a hurry to have come out 5 years ago that I bought it, disappointing.)
Fear (I have beaten but don’t have anymore, I loved this one.)
Don’t let the abundance of FPS fool you, I like other kinds of games too.
Crackdown is a pretty fun Grant Theft Auto clone, but with enhanced/superhuman abilities thrown in for fun. The actual car part feels a little floaty, but other than that it’s pretty awesome.
It’s mad fun, it’s got a simplistic play style but can be quite challenging (you’re not going to just waltz through it, but the controls are easy to handle and it’s not going to have you tearing your hair out through frustration). It’s awesome as a multiplayer game. And for all that it looks cartoony (how realistic can lego be?) it shows up nicely on the 360’s graphics.
Another vote for Crackdown. My husband had as much fun playing it as I had watching him play it - plus he got to say things like I AM the FIST OF JUSTICE without me laughing at him too much!
Agreed with Smooth Jack on suggesting Forza. 'Tis a great game.
He hasn’t played me on Live yet. I think he’s ducking me. He won’t come this Sunday, though…
Thanks for the recommendations people. I’ll check them out. What makes Forza cool?
What makes Overlord cool?
We have Viva Pinata, I neglected to mention it, it’s one of the few games my wife can play. Though she was doing alright at Lost Planet when we first got it. I need to vet her on shooters since we have so many.
Forza is the Xbox’s version of Gran Turismo for the PlayStation. It’s got TONS of cars, bunches of customizable options, lots of paint colors and decal-making options, bunches of tracks and races, and, if you have Live, you can auction cars, play online, check out your times against the Live leaderboards (it does this automatically with your races. It also gives you a separate leaderboard for just people on your friends list). Hell, you can even gift cars to other people, and if you get it, let me know. I’ll send you a good little starter car of your choice.
Do you prefer Burnout to a Gran Turismo type of simulation game? If you prefer Burnout, you may want to rent Forza to see if you still dig it. If you like the simulation aspect, then you may fall in love with Forza.
What makes Overlord cool is the small, pointless and amusing stuff, like your minions improvising helmets and armour from everything they can find. (I.e. goblins wearing pumpkins and dead rats as helmets! Awesome!)
Also, torching wheat fields full of fat hobbits . . . If that doesn’t appeal to you, I don’t know what will.
Yeah, it does sound like it could be fun. I’d like to hear more about the game play and what levels of depth it gets to. Games like that can be fun but are also often quite gimmicky and poorly executed.
