Recommend me some Enterprise episodes!

So, despite my not that great opinion of it, the new Star Trek film has managed to reinvigorate my interest in all things Trek. To that end, I have been re-watching bits and pieces of Enterprise, which I never really caught in full, and to my surprise, I’m liking it a lot better than I remember; however, still not quite well enough to watch through all seasons in series, so I’m kinda looking for a best off – which is where you guys come in.

I know nobody’s actually watched Enterprise, but there’s gotta be a few of you who got hit by a sudden bout of locked-in syndrome in front of the TV while it was showing, so if anybody can recommend me an episode or two, I’d be much obliged.

I’ve watched Enterprise - only a bit of it, but I’m enough of a Trekkie to have ordered the first few discs from zip.ca, and there’s some more of season 1 sitting way down on my priority list. It’s not as good as the other series, in my opinion, but still generally fun if you don’t have high expectations of it.

The one episode so far that stands out as delivering on reasonably high expectations is “The Andorian Incident” (Season 1, episode 7)

I really liked “Damage.” The crew is forced to do something morally repugnant because of the circumstances.

The two-parter, “In A Mirror Darkly,” is good. We get to watch the crew’s alternate universe counterparts be gloriously evil AND enjoy a welcome respite from the insipid theme music.

I also thought “Dear Doctor” and “Dead Stop” were interesting.

The ones mentioned so far are all good – special attention to “In a Mirror, Darkly”.

I think a best-of list should also include:
First Flight (Star Trek does The Right Stuff)
Vanishing Point (Hoshi uses the transporter – I just love her)
Broken Bow (The pilot-- pretty good set-up)

The Andorian Incident
Cogenitor
Doctor’s Orders (just for the ending.)

Thanks for the recommendations, so far, though I seem to have overestimated the incidence of locked-in syndrome in the general populace. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, I just watched First Flight, and liked that quite a bit; Cogenitor was good, too, though I kept wishing for Trip to stop his meddling… Questionable morals and all, but that was the one first contact that actually went pretty well, and could have, indeed, led to a beautiful friendship; but oh well.

I’ve got an open ear for more recommendations, though…

*Shockwave *was what the temporal cold war should have been. Suspenseful, smart, fun, though part II was a cop-out.

Regeneration, likewise.

If you have enough time, I’d suggest watching a good part of the Xindi arc. Start with The Expanse, then skip to Anomaly, The Shipment, Twilight, Similitude, Proving Ground, Strategem, Doctor’s Orders, and then everything from Azati Prime to Zero Hour.

This site has episode reviews that I generally agree with.

In season four, the Augments arc and the Vulcan arc are pretty worthwhile (*Borderland *to Kir’Shara), as are, of course, the mirror universe episodes.

Mostly the fourth season is quite good. The last two episodes before the finale – Demons and Terra Prime – were the best the show ever got.

Here are the responses I got when I asked basically the same question a while back.

Thanks for that, that’s exactly what I was looking for. I’m a bit of two minds about the whole Xindi thing – what I’ve seen so far wasn’t bad at all, but did they really have to up the ante quite that much? The premise of being the first human explorers in deep space should have provided enough to work with, but no, they had to tag on the possible destruction of the earth to spice things even more, making the whole Federation-babysteps thing kind of irrelevant.

Thanks to everybody else, too!
