Recommend post-2003 Irish and British comedies

Before I got married, I used to watch a lot of movies – including almost every Irish or British comedy that was distributed over here in the United States. Now I’m out of touch and missing those days.

What are some of the more recent ones I should catch up on (let’s say post-2003).

Some of the comedies I enjoyed in the past –

  • The Barrytown trilogy (Commitments, Snapper, Van)
  • An Everlasting Piece
  • Brassed Off
  • The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain

So what have I been missing?

The first two films of the ‘Cornetto’ trilogy: Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz

Shaun of the Dead for sure. Incredibly clever.

In Bruges.

Yep, I came into this thread to recommend In Bruges.

Funniest movie of 2008.

In Bruges

*About A Boy
Calendar Girl
Keeping Mum
Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit
*
Death At a Funeral was very popular but I found it a tedious mess of poor taste jokes and people accidentally taking drugs

Not sure about the year, but “Waking Ned Devine” was a really nice little movie!!!
