Which are your favorite comedy movies?

Any type of comedies post 1990… romantic, drama, action, stoner comedies, black comedies, parodies…

I can think of right now from Hollywood my favorites : Harold and kumar movies, Dumb and Dumber, Pineapple express, American Pie movies, There’s something about Mary, Snatch, Rush hour.

so, what are your favorites??

There were comedies made after 1990?
I must have aged out of the target demographic. (Trying to remember the last “funny” film I saw in the theatre. . .)

It’s hard for me to know what other people think of the films I consider to be comedies. These for me are partly comedies and were released after 1990:

Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994, U.K., dir. Mike Newell)
Groundhog Day (1993, U.S., dir. Harold Ramis)

Borat! That was a comedy, wasn’t it? I saw that in the theatre!

Galaxy Quest
Groundhog Day
Blazing Saddles
Airplane
Young Frankenstein
Clean Slate

A lot of these are pre-1990.
That’s my problem with the OP. Once I get past the thread title, I’m stuck, because all my favorite comedies are pre-1990. A Night at the Opera, What’s Up, Doc? A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and so on.I was hard pressed to come up with a post-19090 comedy that I really liked. Galaxy Quest is definitely one. Does Paul count? How about Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland?
Does it say anything abouit me that my favorite post-1990 comedies are about science fiction geeks and zombies?

Um, RikWriter, note that the OP specifies that the movie be released after 1990.

I think it might be an age thing. You grow up watching the comedies popular at the time, and since it’s incredibly hard to make an original comedy, you wind up dismissing newer stuff as pale imitations.
To be fair, I do enjoy some new stuff: Tropic Thunder was hilarious, for example.
It’s just not my favorite of all time…which is probably because the older stuff was what I was exposed to in my formative years.

I recently saw Harold and kumar movies, found them very funny, had a great time watching. Actually saw the first one multiple times(coz it was so funny)… So I thought of asking for similar movies so I could watch more and enjoy more…Thanks all… keep your posts coming pls.

You can list pre-1990 also. Thanks.

My bad, I missed that as it wasn’t in the title.
Post 1990 then…
Galaxy Quest
Tropic Thunder
Zombieland
The Hangover
Hot Fuzz
Groundhog Day
Office Space

I don’t think I’m dismissing them as pale imitations. I’ve tried watching the Harold and Kumar movies, but I lose interest. They’re not imitations of anything.

The Invention of Lying

Did you lose interest in part I : H&K go to white Castle ??

Part 3 was least funny of the three. Part 2 lesser than Part 1 but still very good. Part 1 was all time great imo.

Pre-1990, including only those films I saw first run in a theatre, I have to go with Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Animal House, and Airplane! off the top of my head.

I seem to have a strong absurdist streak

I was going to cite This Is Spinal Tap as the only post-1990 movie I find High-Larious, then I looked it up and found it was released in 1984.

I’m getting old; I coulda swore it was just last year
mmm

Probably not a popular opinion, but Anchorman was one I thought of.
