I used that type of film for the window in our front door. Wet the window, squeegee in place. It’s held for four years, so far.

My sister put a curtain rod up for sliding door ,it was nice looking rod but too heavy to stay up . I think there was water damage on one end and it never properly taken care of my the last person so there a weak spot . I had to use shower curtain rod to hang my curtain up . To the OP if you have small kids or pet you need to be careful if put anything that pulls open on rod with draw string.
I had window quits put in once and they came with a warning that a baby can get accidently hung on the string. I tried calling the company back to fix a window quit and they were out of business , I was told a few baby got killed with their product.
No kids here. Possibly a chill cat, if I can find one.
