Just joined Tumblr and am looking for accounts that are heavy on interesting photos, poetry, film stills, or other provocative posts without being manic (posting constantly, overwhelming my dashboard) or overly cute, precious, or navel-gazing (yes, I know that’s what some people use it for; just not me).

Things that look like other things.
You might want to use the “Explore Tumblr” tab (on the right) for that sort of thing. They have several categories for things like that.
One you’ll probably like is Awesome People Hanging Out Together. There’s an Old Hollywood tumblr, but they don’t post that often. One I like that is almost 100% photography is called Where is the Cool. Both Life (magazine) and NPR have Tumblrs.
In the odd/quirky category: The Cosby Sweater Project, Sad Stuff on the Street, Things Organized Neatly, How Many People in Space Right Now, Kanye With White People, and one where a guy who works in a thrift store shows strange things people donate…I want to say it’s called What I Found at Work Today.
Downright disturbing: Bieber Puberty - comprised mostly of close-ups of pimples, armpit hair, whiskers and worse, lol. (I swear I found it on accident.)
