Last week I did a time-lapse project, and it got me to thinking…a long while ago, I think all the way back in 2006, for several months people came up with photo assignments - photography tasks for all those who wished to participate.
For example, one might have been asked to take photos of:
Blue - take a photo of something blue
Stone - take a photo of something made of stone
Cold - …
and everyone would take the required photos, upload them to their picture account and link to them so we could admire them.
It was fun, but we stopped.
Should we start again? If there’s interest, I’d volunteer to provide an assignment for April, and maybe others could claim months too.
It is easy to set up and use, but if you already have a flickr account there’s no good reason to change to something else. You just need some way to link to photos to participate.
Count me in. I’ll come up with a May assignment, too! Are we going to aim for one word type assignments? I mean, not that I want to write a paragraph, but is that a goal, or happenstance?
As long as it’s broad enough that people can take an array of photos, I don’t think that it needs to be a single word. You could go with things like “fuzzy animal(s)” or “kids playing outside” and still give people a pretty wide bearth.
