What is the worst dive bar in Austin, TX? I am looking for the kind of place that when you walk in you are about as likely to get murdered as get a drink. Are there any really terrible bars in Austin or will I have to go out of the city?
Thanks for your help.
Do most cities have a bar that dangerous? There’s bars on Sixth Street that pretend they’re biker sorta bars, but aren’t. Are you caucasion? If you are, your best bet would be to go to one of the Tejano clubs down on east Riverside. They occasionally have shootings over there…
I’d say most big cities have “Bad News Bars”. I used to hang out at a bar in suburban Chicago where people got stabbed, had beer pitchers smashed in their faces, guns were being drawn all the time…A real swank place.
ooh! ooh!
go to The Back Room, at Burton & Riverside.
If you leave there with all your teeth, try Rack Daddy’s at Pleasant Valley & Riverside (next to Albertsons), and go dressed like a frat boy.
Or, if you’re just craving being manhandled by large, manly men, try the Chaindrive. It’s down around 8o Red River…
If you are looking for an old fashioned back of the woodshed beating, come to Dallas. We have Deep Ellum. And Deep Ellum has beatings and muggings.
The only bars I have been in in Austin were on 6th street, and none were a “dive.”
In St. Paul, MN, on the other hand, there is Jump & Punch. It’s actually called J&P’s, but every time you go there, somebody jumps and starts punching. It sounds like a thing of legend and myth, but it is quite real. It seems kind of like a quiet neighborhood rundown bar until the moment when…
JUMP*
PUNCHPUNCH*PUNCH
And you’re thinking to yourself as this happens next to you… “what the?”
