A friend wants to study advertising, and is considering Singapore. She’s looking to do a 12-18 month course.
Recomendations?

Eh? EH?
There are 3 universities.
Nanyang Technological University (take a guess at what they specialise in)
Singapore Management University (guess again)
National University of Singapore
Let’s just say that Singapore’s not too hot about advertising. My guess would be Australia.
Disclaimer: I do not have any friends in university doing anything related to advertising, and those who ARE doing advertising are not in university. Everything is IMHO.
That’s why I put posted here!
Seriously, only 3 universities in Singapore? And only one with non-engineering/management courses? I thought there were more than that.
Aside from advertising, how about for courses in mass communications, visual arts, and the like?
Australia and the UK are two other options she’s considering. Both these places have easy access to information in centres in Bombay, but she hasn’t had much success finding out about Singapore.
Well, if it’s not engineering, accounting or management related, it’s gotta be in NUS. Poke around and see what you can find. I assume Mass Communications is in there as well, and possibly Visual Arts (but I wouldn’t be too hopeful). Seriously, there isn’t much room for “arty” stuff in Singapore.
From what I know, and it’s not a lot (AFAIK Disclaimer here), most of the art/design/advertisement stuff is from the polytechics, which give out diplomas. You can also try NAFA. But IMHO, go somewhere else.

You’d think, but no. That’s all we got here. And as far as I know, there isn’t any advertising course offered in Singapore. This country is still fresh…it’s moulding itself…growing…developing…wing-spreading…etc-ing. Not exactly a hotbed of creative juices yet, unfortunately.
I would suggest anywhere but here for any course related to communications, the mass media or advertising.
