Recommendations: mask for jogging

So, I’m living in Shanghai, and although the city’s great I’m really missing my jogging.
I’ve been waiting for the PM2.5 levels to go under 100 and…it’s turning out to be a long wait.

Can anyone recommend a mask for jogging? My main requirements would be 1. not too bulky, 2. Obviously filter PM2.5, 3. Exhale valve, or some other way of stopping CO2 and steam building up

Yes, I’ve googled around, but I want to be able to ask questions, because the reviews are really conflicting.

<I’ll try one bump as stuff falls off IMHO v.fast>

No-one tried respro? Totobobo? What about those 3M masks with valve on the front?

Almost nobody on this board lives in an area that requires they wear breathing gear to jog. I’ve never seen anybody outside a hospital wear a paper mask for disease prevention. This is why you are not getting any input from members on this board. I’m only posting this because you did a bump with no responses.

I don’t have any advice on masks, but from my China days I was advised to jog in the early morning if possible, as there is less exhaust around immediately before the commute.

Here’s a site that has some options. I haven’t dealt with them so you’re on your own there.

is the hassle really worth not jogging indoors? the masks are uncomfortable enough already, i can’t imagine having to do strenuous exercise with one on.

I considered that, I just figured some people might cycle through city centres, and wear masks because of traffic fumes. Not quite the same thing but relevant enough.
Perhaps the title was too narrow.

I guess I can jog indoors and every now and then look out of the window and sigh.

To me a lot of the fun of jogging is exploration. But then again, a lot of the enjoyment is also getting some fresh air, so straight away it’s not going to be the optimal experience here.

Having recently used a mask like this while putting insulation in my attic, I’ll tell you that the valve doesn’t do a heck of a lot. The idea of running in something like that for more than a mile - MAYBE two - is hard for me to imagine. It is just really hard to get enough air through the filter - and the better the filter, the harder it is to get air through it.
