Recovering Republican, Please Step Into the Hallway for a Moment

Meh. I don’t post much in GD anymore, so I didn’t realize he was a troll. In light of that, y’know how I said he was a damn idiot? “Troll” is the shorter synonym.

Which he’s coyly equating to being an alcoholic, it’s like a moniker Stephen Colbert would adopt.

Strange.

Maybe he’s into, like, upholstery.

I don’t think he’s a troll, I think he’s a blowhard. He’s got about 15 statements that he thinks are irrefutable “gotchas” (20% can’t read their diplomas, 9% unemployment) that leave anyone opposed to him speechless, and whenever he’s getting backed into a corner, he throws out a different one of these canned statements, completely convinced that it’s some sort of argument bomb that will end all discussion. People start arguing with the new “gotcha” and when it starts to go south, he throws out yet another. It’s why every thread he participates in ends up being the same thread, littered with the same used up spiels.

I hope he’s not married: he seems like the type to bring up the time you drove off with the laptop on top of the car every single time you have any objection to anything at all that he’s done.

I also thinks he honestly thinks he is now a maverick-y “independent” because his disagrees with 5% of the party line. I think that was a big step for him.

You honestly think he thinks?

Well, he met a person once who told him that he thinks, and as we all know his anecdotal experience is irrefutable proof by any standard.

He met some people who told him WHAT he thinks, more like. Well, kinda met. Watching someone on tv or the computer is like meeting them.

I enjoy his right-wing rhetoric, like how raising taxes on millionaires translates to, “asking Mr. and Mrs. America to take food out of their children’s mouths,” or some horsehit like that.

I was just saddened he didn’t present in a Norman Rockwell syle lithograph.

Norman Rockwell are the old-school Republicans. The current crop are more Thomas Kinkade.

His little hissy about government workers in the Bachmann thread convinced me that he’s just a fucking blowhard, and a liar to boot.

Hey, I’m a high school grad that can’t read my diploma. Of course, the diploma in question is actually my BS diploma, and the reason I can’t read it is that it’s in Latin (Dad was kind enough to translate it for me after commencement), but I am a high school graduate who can’t read one of his diplomas.

(One of my father’s graduate diplomas–can’t remember which one–is all in Latin and was granted long enough ago that his name would have been in Latin if it had been possible to do so.)

Ah, yes, the Painter of Blight…

He is a BUsh/Reagan Republican. He is as low a cold hearted, government hating, poor people hating, suck up to the rich as we have had on this board.

Rand Rover left?

RecRep is a nostalgic reactionary, he sees things as if through a fog, and is mostly wrong. RandRov is a Galtian reactionary, and sees things with crystal clarity, and is utterly wrong. Minor distinctions, perhaps, to the untrained eye, like the difference between a crested titmarsh and a vexed grebe. Perhaps you’d like to borrow my Field Guide to the North American Rightard?

Troll.

Seriously, I give much benefit of the doubt but (s)he has crossed beyond any reasonable shadow of doubt range. These posts are intentional baiting with no interest in honest discussion.

I don’t think he’s trolling. Recovering Republican may look like an idiot, and talk like an idiot, but don’t let that fool you. He really is an idiot.

(Should have let RT Firefly field that one)

There are (or have been) a lot of individuals here who I took great issue with and who managed to be intellectually dishonest or genuinely obtuse, but they did at least try to pay lip service to our protocols when it comes to citations and some sort of evidence to back up their assertions of fact.

But RR’s “I don’t do cites”?!? Just shows that he’s a chickenshit, too.

That’s some funny shit right there.

The worst part is that he’s so boring. At least from time to time I sort of like to read Starving Artist’s vision of how everything was all rainbows and cupcakes until 1964, it’s sort of cute before it just gets annoying. But talking to RR is like Fox News’ IT department had a project to make a chat bot that would attempt to vaguely understand what you’re getting at and then throw the appropriate republican talking points back at you. It’s so boring. Yet he feels like he’s clever. That’s always irritating.

Example. He was basically saying that Sarah Palin quitting the governorship of Alaska is the same thing as Obama quitting being a Senator from Illinois to become president. To clarify I asked him if he viewed them as equivelant acts, and he said no Obama is way worse due to [start unrelated talking points again], it was just like this weird “non-sequitor, revert to talking point #6” a bot would do.
