My youngest son slept in a drawer, as an infant. (We were short a bed, and had the drawer space.) We didn’t close the drawer, though.

The girl was found a mile from her home, not merely a few hundred yards. She wasn’t right down the block.
I was slightly mistaken, the abductor is a step-relative of the girl.
The people commenting on the child’s appearance are ugly in my opinion! She’s a person, she has a soul, and feelings. Her family and friends love her, her mother had a terrible Mother’s Day recently. ![]()
Yanno, sometimes I read a thread but don’t check out the article attached to it because I think it would enrage / upset / whatever me too much. So I didn’t this time either. Everything in the summary just seemed beyond reprehensible to comprehend anyway. Then I see Zabali mention that there are people disparaging the young victim’s appearance and I feel like I’ve lost any faith in humanity. How can anyone do this to a child? Especially one that’s been under such unfathomable circumstances.
I agree with a sentiment that I’ve seen expressed many times before… I’d like the world to stop so I can step off. I just don’t understand ever a mindset where this makes sense. Fuckers.
The abductor should be put away.
Okay, I was giggly through this entire thread, now I’ve lost it.
Well, I studiously avoid all media coverage of “missing white girl” stories. It’s fairly easy: Don’t watch Fox News, CNN, national news, all but two shows on MSNBC, or read any of the news websites. If I do see anything, I skip right over it (if it’s a webpage) or change the channel. I get my actual news from NPR, Countdown, actual newspaper websites like the Washington Post, sites like Fark (it’s often better than CNN at this point) and Slashdot, the Sunday morning talk shows, and sometimes the SDMB.
Ok, from reading this article I’m not finding any evidence that she was in that drawer for a very long period of time. It sounds like her would-be abductor (or whatever) was trying to hide her when the police came.

Nah, he should be hanged, drawered and quartered.
I know you’re just trying to be funny… but you’re not. Fucking moron.
Instead of the clever title, I wish you had just used the RO label. If you just wanted sort of cute comments, this should have gone in MPSIMS. In order for it to be in the Pit, it has to have the outrage part. This thread is a mix of both.
I try to avoid the annoying outrage part of these RO threads because they’re really ludicrous. If it had been labeled as RO, it would have saved me a click.
This is one weird-ass pit thread. What’s with all the jokes?
The comment that he should have kidnapped a prettier child is messed up. And not funny. Don’t quit your day job for comedy. You really suck at it.
I thought Scissorjack’s comment that it was “clearly an open and shut case” was pretty durned funny.
I do apologise for my offensive and patently unfunny remarks. I have learned today that women aren’t objects. They have rights and feelings, and I should respect that.
You know, I’m not the type to advocate the suspension of civil rights, even in extreme circumstances. In fact, I’ve aroused a fair bit of anger from the kill-all-criminals crowd for my warm zealotry for freedom (to borrow Thomas Jefferson’s words). I’m not really the type for RO, either.
But in this case, I’m willing to make an exception. I propose that people caught stuffing children in drawers should be immediately strung up and filled with bullet holes in public upon their discovery.
For storage purposes the bullet holes really should be filled in with moth balls.
As to theOP, not every villian can afford a dungeon or even a basement. They are just trying to make do.
I understand the abductor folded under questioning.
That would be misleading, because I’m not outraged. I’m bemused.
At least there wasn’t a lengthy chaise.
I’ve so got to email a link for this thread to my wife. She’ll love this shit.
Sorry missbunny, may I present the laughing people reading this thread?
Calling the thread weird implies that it doesn’t meet with your expectations, and the disapproving tone of your post suggests this is a bad thing.
That makes you a fascist you know.
When asked if he felt any remorse, the suspect is said to have replied, “I’ve made my bed, now I must lie in it”.
