Recycling corks.

I searched and all I learned is that hanging my used wine corks around the brim of my hat is probably not a good idea.

So, does anyone know of a good use for all those corks? Seems such a waste to simply toss 'em into the trash, but I’ll be danged if I can think of what else to do with the 3 or 4 corks I wind up with each week.
Serious replies only, please.

I’ve seen corks used to make really nice christmas wreaths before. They were all glued together, I’d guess a couple hundred were used.

Fishing bobbers?

Make a trivet to put hot pots and pans on, or a bulletin board. Takes 20-30 corks. Here’s some examples, but you could probably do it cheaper yourself.

Looks like an IMHO to me.

Thanks, tdc. I thought about coasters, but those are pretty cool.

'K, bib, I’ll rephrase. Just to remove any doubt.
“What’s the best use for old wine corks?”

Got carbon steel knives? Do they turn black? A bit of cleanser on the end of a moistened cork will clean and polish them up nicely, with risking any finger amputations. Just toss it when you’re done.

I have seen a thing to put hot pans on made with bottle corks: Drill through the center of the corks lengthwise so you can put them on a thick wire or skewer. Then you place several rows side by side until you have the dimensions you want. this one was about 12" square. I am not doing a very good job of explaining it but I hope you get it. If not, I’ll try again.

My first thought was wreaths and trivets, but those have already been mentioned… so how about ammunition for a rubber-band gun?

I saw a car once in California that had corks superglued all over it, but that would take LOTS of corks.

Not to mention what it would do to your resale value.
I live in Berkeley CA, One of the many centers of ‘car art’.
Ever see that film?

Save both the bottle and the cork–wash them thoroughly and let the dry completely before putting them away. Then brew a batch of your own wine and refill the bottle. Simple, no?

No.
I’ve tasted the proud efforts of a couple of my friends.
Let me say that it would have went well with my ex-wife’s cooking.
I did know one guy who made a pretty decent beer.
Trivets, etc. it will be. Thank you.

Use them for bobbers when you go fishing!!!

Duck Duck Goose’s reply (#2);

Somebody didn’t do their homework. Maybe you should leave the corks in place?
