I know that there are different ways of developing a red nose, and that certain famous reindeer have been known to put them to good use. My question; other than drinking too much for too long a time, is there a specific condition or disease that causes red noses?
sunburn.
In Australia it’s an annual nation-wide event. Evens buses and trucks get red noses Downunder.
I was thinking along the lines of an inherited condition or a kind of topical skin disease. Maybe an allergy.
If you wait for one of the doctors to come along they’ll tell you there’s a few. One of them is called Rose (not sure of the spelling but I think it’s pronounced roe-say).
Of course there’s always Gin-blossom
Thanks. I’ll try a search with rose, not rhyming with nose.
I’ve heard of the same thing only called rum-blossom.
Is there a doctor in the house?
I’m not a doctor, but I think what you have in mind is “rosecea”.

Philly
Philly is right. IANAD either, but my dad and several friends suffer from roseacea. (pronounced: rose-ZAY-sha) It’s often called adult acne, but it behaves differently from teen acne, in that it targets the cheeks and nose, and even when there aren’t any flareups of pimples the skin remains reddened. The affected skin also thickens with scar tissue, and you can end up with a rather bumpy potato nose if not treated. Prescription antibiotics and steriod creams are typically used, and you have to avoid spicy food and alcohol.
NOT fun.

I did a search of the web and found rosacea. This may be the answer, however I do not think this is the condition I have in mind. Specifically the thickening and scarring of the skin is not apparent. Just a reddness that seems to be limited to the nose. Also, while Rosacea seems to be most common in adults, the condition under discussion occurred in a teenager.
Perhaps it is just a mild case of rosacea. Other similarities to those afflicted with rosacea are fair skinned, exposure to sun and consumption of alcohal.
Of course a definitive diagnosis requires that the subject seek the advice of a specialist. But, you guys are great.
