I’m going to a wedding this Friday at 6pm. I have a light tan linen jacket I was going to wear that has red wine on it. Questions:
[ul][li]Can I get that kind of stain out?[/li][li]If so, can I do it myself?[/li][li]If not, can a dry cleaner turn that around before Friday at 6pm?[/ul][/li]
Much obliged.
I once heard that white wine is the preferred method for getting out a red wine stain. I think professional cleaners may even use this method. I don’t have any cites presently though.
Oxygen bleaches like Oxyclean get out red fruit stains very quickly and are safe for colored fabrics. I don’t know about your if particular jacket is home washable, though.
I’ve heard the white wine theory, too. But would you believe that club soda actually works?
Those old wives were on to something, after all.
All three of those do actually work.
Would you recommend a riesling or maybe a nice sauvignon blanc? Any particular vintage?
Take a bowl, drape the fabric over the bowl so that it is reasonably taut and the stain is in the middle. Pour boiling water (no soap) through the stain, holding it about a foot away from the fabric. The bowl is just to catch the water.
Also works on cranberry sauce.
