Your opinions are boorish, despicable and incorrect. You are a troglodyte posing as a modern man. Your douchebaggery is palpable. No-one wants to hear you spew your sexist vomit–not women, who are directly offended, nor men, who know that with every word you speak you drag us all down a little bit. People like you, you and your ilk, are why we can’t have reasonable gender relations. Go crawl back in whatever ice block you thawed out of and leave the rest of us alone.

Yeah, seriously. I don’t know how much more clearly a poster can signal his intent to troll the bejesus out of a thread.
There’s probably no single perspective on any single topic more likely to draw me into an outraged debate than the one Redpill is attempting to defend. I’ve certainly gone back and forth with Der Trihs about the exact same topic in the past. But even I can’t muster up enough energy to get involved in that discussion with Redpill. Pitting him for being incorrect seems rather unlikely to have the desired effect.
If Redpill is a troll, I vote shift the focus to Der Trihs, who has made some equally loathsome comments in that thread, and who is probably not a troll, given his long history at the SDMB.
Der Trihs’s comments aren’t loathsome as much as they insane. He spouts so much froth that it does sort of make me think he’s pulling our leg in there.
Really. I say that rape is not automatically part of some vast male anti-woman conspiracy, that sometimes it is just a ruthless man taking what he wants by force. That is somehow just as bad as claiming being targeted for rape is a compliment? It’s no wonder that having an honest discussion on the topic is difficult.
If someone, somewhere, was actually making that argument, you might have a point. Instead you just look like a crazy person, stomping your feet and yelling in vain at a straw man.
I have to say, I was genuinely surprised to see you take that position. Given your general insistence on imputing the views of the extreme to the whole of the group, “vast male anti-woman conspiracy” would seem to be right up your alley, ideologically speaking.
My point - which is hardly “crazy” or even original to myself - is that “rape is about power” IS a claim of just such a gender-wide agenda/plot/whatever. It denies that men exhibit normal (if in this case criminal) human behavior and insists that no, rape isn’t an example of predatory self indulgence - it has to be part of an agenda.
