“Some of the fault lies with the performance of the intelligence community, but most of it lies with the way senior officials misused the information they were provided,” he said at a press conference held by the Arms Control Association.

“As of March 2003, when we began military operations, Iraq posed no imminent threat to either its neighbors or to the United States,” Thielmann said.

This comes at a time when Americans continue to die in Iraq at a rate of about one a day.

Similarly, the administration announced that on October 1 it wants to roll back recent modest increases in monthly imminent-danger pay (from $225 to $150) and family-separation allowance (from $250 to $100) for troops getting shot at in combat zones.

Then there’s military tax relief –

BTW, the point of my post was just that pitting guys who are strong political partisans is a thankless task, simply because most people are going to suspect partisanship even if (as far as you’re concerned) absolutely none exists.
