Recently quit chewing tobacco. Kodiak Green to be specific. I’ve done some damage to my gums. Where I usually pit my dip is the front lower teeth. Well, the gumline there is low now. Do your gums regenerate over time? Or am I screwed?
I have receding gums on the bottom. My dentist told me I would have to have a gum graft. The oral surgeon will take tissue frim the roof of the mouth and graft it into the affected area.

Actually, my gumline has always been really low; as in can-see-my- roots low. I’d like to know if there is something that can be done.
One word - periodontist
Be prepared for a big expense.
With care, and if the gums are not too far gone, they can improve over time – mine have. I have not seen a periodontist, but my dentist has me in every three months, and I had my roots planed (which is about as fun as it sounds) when I first started seeing him.
See your dentist or a periodontist ASAP!
I had a “gum graft” to my front lower teeth by an excellent periodontist almost 30 years ago. Guess it worked as the teeth are fine & that particular area always gets “good marks” whenever I see my current periodontist.
Hope to keep my teeth forever. I am amazed by the number of denture-wearers at relatively young ages, such as their 20ties & 30ties.
