In German class, we watched (unsubbed) Alles fur sich und Gott gegen Alles (aka Kaspar Hauser).
In English, we watched Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead after reading through Hamlet.
I don’t remember whether the movies we saw in Health class were made-for-schools or repurposed actual movies, but they were pretty elaborate with good production values. The driver’s safety flick was about a womanizing sculptor who becomes paralyzed after driving recklessly. The birth control flick was about an aspiring guitarist (who totally kicked ass on guitar – seriously, I was awestruck by some of his playing) ending up stuck in a dead-end low-income job with his live-in girlfriend and newborn in order to support his sudden and unexpected family because they figured condoms weren’t important.
New thread - we’ve discussed what you were shown in school - now let’s discuss what you’d pick if you were in charge.

I can only think of 2 movies we watched that were regular movies and actually used for an educational purpose (for instance, watching Gremlins on the last day before Christmas vacation in 2nd grade doesn’t count).
In my 11th grade Latin class, on the last day of school, one of my friends convinced our teacher to let us watch The Life of Brian - for the wall writing scene.
In 12th grade, I took a crap class called Jobs for Bay State Graduates. We were supposed to be learning how to find a job, fill out an application, write a resume, etc. Our teacher ended up with his jaw locking after a dental procedure so he couldn’t talk. Instead, he had us watch Happy Gilmore as a lesson in why you should always have alternate career plans.
