reheating steak

how do you reheat steak without either over cooking it (i like my steaks closer to mid-rare) or it getting that microwave cooked taste? is there even a way to do this?

Preheat your pan until it is quite warm. Drop in a pat of butter. When it begins to sizzle, toss in the cooked steak. Quickly turn the steak so as to briefly re-sear it on both sides. Splash a few tablespoons of water or sherry into the pan and immediately cover it very tightly (no peeking!). Turn off the heat and let rest until the steak is heated through. This should take about five minutes.

Note: If you are cooking on an electric stove, you will need to move the pan to another (cold) burner.

A method that I use is to make fajita tacos. Slice your steak into thin strips, then stir fry in butter and/or seasonings to your liking. Warm up a couple of tortillas and enjoy. I like to top my fajita tacos with sauteed onions, jalapenos, salsa, cheese and then dip in sour cream.
Now I’m hungry.

Even if you don’t want ti make fajitas with the steeak, I’d recommend siberia’s method. By thinly slicing the steak before re-heating you can get a lot of heat into the meat quickly w/o drying it out or even cooking it too much more.

I take offence to this thread

How does one end up with left-over steak, anyways? I thought that was a logical impossibility

not a big meat eater… well, not really a big eater at all. i always have left overs. i just hate wasting them.

steak, sorry to offend you. didn’t mean to reheat you. i was refering to the other steak.

I like cold steak, too.
