Yesterday (Friday, 6 April 2001) and today, our H.S. Relay for Life team spent 18 hours enjoying one another’s company and walking around a track all night. It was great fun!
Relay for Life is an event put together (on a national scale, I believe) to raise money for cancer research. Our local (Mt. Dora, Eustis, Umatilla and Tavares, FL) goal this year was to raise $85,000. We raised over $106,000!!!
Hooray! Our team, consisting of myself, a few other adults and a slew of students, aimed for $1,000 and raised $1,151.75!! The kids were great!
I just wanted to express my joy at this outcome, and thank everyone who works on behalf of the American Cancer Society and any of the other cancer-fighting charities. If anyone wants to lend their support (we start RFL 2002 next week), please do so by posting fund-raising ideas in this thread.
I’m not sure if I can ask for money here, so I won’t.
