Religious Nutjob Nomination Thread....

Please provide an example of me being a bigot, if you don’t mind.

Again: gyrate, do you really feel like Libertarian is being honest enough to warrant this debate? He looks to me like he’s in full-blown disingenuity-mode here, determined not to face how foolish he’s acting, and damn honesty. Do you see something in him I don’t?

Daniel

You’re wasting your time, DanielWithrow. Arguing with Lib is like trying to bring down Olympus Mons with a Jello bulldozer.

Treat him like a rational, intelligent being, and he’ll stick around as long as he gets responses. I recommend criticizing him mercilessly – it’s like spreading Lib-be-gone all over the forum.

Are you saying that when someone claims that others are accusing him of having a persecution complex, the correct response is to persecute them? That’s too twisted even for me.

What? Are you saying that someone should start a thread on Black Jewish Lesbian Republican nutjobs? That’s a bunch of circles, and oh, what a hoot!

Oh, I’m not arguing with Lib at this point; I’m hoping merely to convince other people to ignore him, in the hopes that, once he’s no longer able to satisfy his ego by deceitfully disrupting harmless threads, he’ll quit trying to do so.

And Gyrate, I’m not suggesting persecuting him. I’m suggesting giving up on him. As long as he continues to shit in threads, let’s walk around his shit and continue the discussion. If he decides to resume behaving in the rational, respectful manner that we know he’s capable of, we’ll start paying attention to him again.

Daniel

Yes, it is a “bunch of circles”, in that not all blacks are Jewish, not all Jews are lesbians, not all lesbians are Republican, not all Republicans are nutjobs, and so on and so forth. What’s your point?

And if you do happen to know of any black, Jewish, lesbian, Republican nutjobs, please do post a link or start a new thread. But please answer the question first.

Libertarian, an honest question. Are you OK? I mean, is there anything that explains your rather… strange… posts as of late?

Coldie

I’m fine. I really don’t know what you mean. I’ve posted on a wide variety of topics in nearly every forum, except for Debates (not counting an accidental post there), in the last several days.

Gyrate

The question? [Joe Pesci voice] You were serious about dat? [/Joe Pesci voice]

It has been my experience over the many years that questions beginning with “Are you saying…?” are leading, complex, and irrelevant.

What I am saying, I have said. Have you suddenly acquired some new mechanism of understanding which might make meaningful yet another attempt to communicate with you?

What I mean is that some of your latest pit posts are downright bizarre, IMHO. F’rinstance, the point your trying to make in this thread, and the way you seem to cling on to it, despite pretty much everybody else telling you you’re way off base.

It seems like you’re looking for offense, or something to lash out at.

Just my observation - if you say all’s well, then I’ll take your word for it.

A new contender: Gen. William “Jerry” Boykin, deputy undersecretary of defense, in charge of the hunt for high-value terrorist targets including bin Laden and Saddam.

Oh, Homebrew, you’re SHITTING me. This guy is the one our country is relying on to catch bin Laden?

Fear for us all.
Daniel

I put in my vote for Dana Rosemary Scallon (MEP for Connacht-Ulster, Ireland), according to whom the European Union will be in serious danger if its constitution doesn’t make reference to God and to Europe’s “Christian heritage”.

No kidding, she actually did say the EU itself will be under threat.

Where is that quote from, Homebrew? On the website for Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, I find plenty of scary information about Boykin and his misuse of military facilities to promote evangelical Christianity (what a great idea, to conflate militant Christianity with the army occupying Iraq!), including:

Is there a more explicit quote somewhere? Googling excerpts of your quote got me nowhere.

Daniel

No offense, ruadh, but that’s amateur stuff when it comes to religious nutjobbery. Maybe Europeans need some minor league of their own, in which they can hope to compete.

Why, in North Carolina, I doubt you could appear on the Republican ticket for city council if you weren’t willing to make a similar statement about Christian heritage.

Our religious nutjobs are professional league, baby.

Daniel

Sorry, I meant to provide a link

The Religious Nutjob Nomination Thread is back on track. Thank you for your patience during the derailment.

Yes, I’m sure she would seem perfectly normal if she were to emigrate to America (ah, if only). In Ireland, however, such views definitely qualify her for the “nutjob” category.

I should say in the south of Ireland, actually. Plenty of weird-even-by-American-standards folks up north (towns where playground gates are locked on Sundays, etc).

From the same link:

:dubious:

I just read that link. Oy vey. My favorite part was the end:

Too late, Mr. Boykin. Too frickin late.

And ruadh, Scallon may be an amateur, but don’t you DARE encourage her to move here. What, you don’t think we got enough of our own to deal with? I hear Norway’s got a shortage of religious radicals these days; surely they can take her on.
