Remarrying and then going to heaven...

I’m not especially religious. But for those who are, this is a semi-serious question…

Let’s say you believe in an afterlife. If your spouse dies and then you remarry, who do you believe you’ll get to spend eternity with? Alternating weekends?

Any particular religion? or a personal opinion? if its the latter it could be useful in IMHO.

If you are not religious why ask?

If you are Religious, then what God would punnish a man for being human - and supposedly created in his likeness?

Don’t know about your God, but mine is loving and kind…and if the unthinkable were to happen to me, He/she would want me to live my life honestly, including being honest to myself…Wouldn’t you agree?

Someone once asked Jesus this very question!

So that’s the Christian perspective on it.

In the Baha’i faith, we believe that we will recognize one another in heaven, and that those whom we love in life, we will continue to love in heaven, but that love will be sanctified above such “ownership” type titles like spouse, child, etc. We will all become spiritually perfect, spiritually pure, and our love for one another will likewise be perfect and pure (although the idea of alternating weekends is a fun one).

Hope this helps some.

Sorry, Arcite. What you’ve posted is the perspective of some Christian denominations but by no means all.

Sooo…okay, what Christian denominations don’t subscribe to what’s in Matthew 22?

Well, I’m not saying we don’t subscribe to that, DDG; however, we do have the idea that one may spend eternity with one’s spouse. By “we,” I of course mean the LDS.

That is one of the many reasons that LDS is not a “Christian Denomination.” One may pick and choose the teachings of the Bible one wants to believe, but that doesn’t mean one is right.

Whereas my interpretation is the correct one, of course.

though I know nothing of the ba’hai faith, norinew said it best, IMHO.

It’ll alll be one big lovefest up there.

So you are saying that Protestant denominations aren’t Christian, then? After all, they “picked and chose” entirely different books to include in said Bible.

Or are the Catholics the un-Christian ones?

Sua

Considering Jesus started the Catholic Church, I can hardly see how Catholics could be “un-Christian”… but as far as the Protestants go (i feel a barrage coming ), yes I would say they aren’t christian as well. If anyone truly delved into the Bible and desired to live as close to Jesus as possible, he/she would eventually find him/herself in the Catholic Church

No, really, I’m right.

I can’t believe the number of people who insist on wearing the wrong kinds of tartan.

but, its all fabric.

That’s why I like to run around in the nude.

what a serious thread.

Which version of the Bible?..just out of interest…
